History

Pioneer Navigation, Ltd.’s experience dates from 1983 and the carriage of steel parcels from Argentina and  Brasil to the USA, eventually developing on extensive relationship with Brasilian trading houses, steel mills and grain charterers. The captive trade from and to East Coast South America was fruitful throughout the 1980s; however, in the early 1990s, flag privileges for Brasilian and Argentine owner/operators  were eliminated from most commodities, and shipping activities focused on foreign bulk trades.

These days, Pioneer spreads its cargo mix and exposure to other areas of the world, notably concluding contracts of affreightment for:   Nopac/Africa sulphur;  intra-African phosphates;  South African, Indonesian  and Colombian coals to Europe;  South America/Europe and FarEast ores;  US and South American grains to Europe and FarEast;  Colombian  and U.S. petcoke and coals to ECSouth America,  and numerous other trades.

Pioneer Navigation, Ltd.  of  Nassau is incorporated in the Bahamas where there is a reciprocal freight tax agreement, and has consistently maintained a chartered fleet of 15-20 Handysize up to Panamax geared and gearless drybulk vessels carrying approximately 4.5 million tonnes of cargo annually.

At present, Pioneer holds substantial contracts of affreightment through Mid-2020 with various firstclass European and South American and other international charterers, providing conservative charter coverage for the duration of its chartered-in period tonnage.

Pioneer enjoys a stellar reputation in the maritime community, prides itself on providing creative solutions to challenging maritime transportation opportunities, executes its contractual obligations punctually, believes in resolving conflicts and outstandings in a timely and honorable fashion, and prefers to mediate and resolve disputes amicably and directly with its clients.
